Melbourne Tigers NBL1 South women’s program are pleased to announce the signing of Zitina Aokuso. The young centre will head to Melbourne after the Australian Opals Camp to be held in March.

Zitina is the first Tigers signing for the 2021 NBL1 season. She will bring an interior presence for the squad both on Offence and Defence. A young superstar, Ziitna had an amazing 2020 WNBL, coming off the bench for the Townsville Fire. Named the 6th player of the year, Zitina show- cased her potential to gain selection into the Opals squad.

An excited Coach David Herbert said today.
“Zitina is a wonderful addition to the Melbourne Tigers program. An unbelievable athlete, Z is the player we were chasing to provide our group with a dominant post presence and threat inside. She should draw a lot of attention from opposing teams which should open up the floor for teammates.

While young in years Zitina, has taken her game to new heights and we are really excited to continue her development to become a dominant force on the Australian basketball scene”

Zitina said, “I am super excited to come down and be a part of an exciting team and great organisation. I played under David with Geelong in the 2019 NBL1 season and am really looking forward to joining forces again.”

The Melbourne Tigers NBL1 women’s program will be announcing additional signings over the coming weeks in preparation for the 2021 NBL1 season.
