Tryouts & Selection Eligibility

Tryouts consist of Sunday morning and Friday night sessions at MSAC. These will be supplemented by mid-week sessions held at various venues across the Albert Park, St Kilda area. Specific age groups will be allocated to these additional venues.

–  You must attend and complete in full, at least 3 tryout sessions in your age group to be considered for selection.

–  You must contact the club and provide notice in advance if you cannot attend any sessions. If you do not attend any session without prior notice, you will not be considered   for selection.

–  Right now, given the Victorian Government’s ‘Road Map’ out, largely dependent on double vaccination numbers, future planning for training and tryouts is impossible to schedule with certainty.

– Based on available information on reaching vaccine targets, the Club will look to conduct outdoor fitness sessions on Sunday 31 October. Restrictions on distance travelled and numbers participating will be in force. The Club will advise.

– There is some chance of formal tryouts commencing on Sunday 7 November at MSAC, but please only use a ‘pencil’ in your diary. Nothing is confirmed and we will have to wait for formal announcements.

If you are selected

–        Fees:  The season registration fee is approximately $650.00 (subject to confirmation), plus additional costs for Uniform items, Mid-week training court hire, Friday night game team sheet and tournament participation fees.

–        If selected, the commitment required is mid-week training, Sunday morning trainings at MSAC and Friday night games all over Victoria.

–        Training will commence immediately teams are selected, and Grading Phase #1 will take place almost immediately. But we don’t know when this will occur.

–        The Melbourne Tigers Junior Girls program participates in several tournaments throughout the year. Some are mandatory and normally include the Eltham Dandenong tournament in January. Others will be determined when the Club returns to full competition.

The Melbourne Tigers Womens Basketball Association requires all new parents to the club to attend a compulsory parent information session. These will be conducted on-line. Please keep an eye out for the time, date and on-line meeting link via email.

Looking forward to seeing you at tryouts.
