The Melbourne Tigers are thrilled to announce the re-signing of Amy O’Neill for the 2024 NBL1 South season.
Amy joined the club last season but unfortunately fractured her elbow so missed a period. A 5’8 point guard, Amy brings a ton of experience to the Tigers squad having won a WNBL championship with the Southside Flyers, playing at a division 1 NCAA college and being a key piece of the Sandringham Sabres women’s program for several seasons.
Coach Kaleb Sclater said, “I am excited for us that Amy is back this season, she was someone I really wanted to bring back. Last season she showed the club glimpses of what she is capable of, but injury really stopped her having consistency. Amy is a smart guard who will add a lot of speed into the mix, she has a great ability to be able to play in transition and find open teammates, but along with that she is also a great person and teammate which is what matters.”
Amy said “I am pumped to be back at the Tigers for season 2024, the club were nothing but welcoming when I joined late last year, and I’ve loved the culture around the group. I am looking forward to seeing what the team can do this year”.
Amy and the rest of the Tigers team kick off their season campaign at home against the Dandenong Rangers, Thursday the 4th of April with tip-off at 6pm.
