Hannah Giddey Committing to 2024

The Melbourne Tigers are excited to announce the Giddey name is returning, with Hannah Giddey committing for season 2024.

The Giddey name is synonymous with the Melbourne Tigers, it wouldn’t be a Tigers season without it. Both Kim and Wazza have played and coached for over 30 years and their kids have all came through the junior ranks, so it is fantastic for the program that Hannah continues the legacy in the senior program.

Hannah is a 6’2 forward/centre who is currently playing and studying Southern Nazarene University. In the 2022/23 college season Hannah won the NCAA DII defensive player of the year putting up 12.3ppg 7.8rpg 3.7apg and an impressive 3 bpg while shooting at 57% from the field. This NBL1 South season Hannah averaged nearly a double, double in her time back with 12ppg and 9.3rpg to go with a breakout game of 19 points, 10 rebounds and 3 block game against Sandringham.

Coach Kaleb Sclater said, “It’s great Hannah has committed to come home and play in her college off season. Shes a great person and someone that fits who we want in our program. Having her come back and continue the Giddey legacy at the club she’s grown up in is pretty special. Hannah’s defensive ability will be a real asset, her wingspan and her ability to block or alter shots, along with her versatility will be a big factor in us having success next season”.

Hannah said “I am excited to come home and play for the Tigers again in 2024. I can’t wait to meet all the new faces that have joined us for next season and be a part of a program that’s moving in a great direction led by Kaleb, I look forward to seeing all the Tiger fans come along and support us”.

Keep your eyes peeled for more NBL1South team announcements coming soon.
