Melbourne Tigers appoint senior coaches for 2021

NBL1 Women's coach

The Melbourne Tigers today announced the appointment of senior coaches for season 2021, off the back of a very successful inaugural NBL1 season.
Former NBL Tiger, Brad Pineau will return as head coach of the men’s team, supported by Jay Lomer.
They were integral to a fantastic 2019 men’s performance.
Former WNBL Coach of the Year, David Herbert will lead the women’s team. Herbert brings a wealth of experience to the role, having had stints in Townsville, Perth and Canberra and more recently with Geelong’s NBL1 team. Dave is also the current head coach of the Gems, the Australian U19 Women’s team.
2019 Coach Kristi Harrower steps down from the role to concentrate on her business interests but is likely to support Dave and the team throughout the year, particularly if Dave has to juggle national team responsibilities.
The Tigers also re-appointed Andrew Gaze (supported by Av Bajram) and Aaron Cliffe, as head coaches for their Big V Youth League championship men’s and women’s teams. Both coaches have “unfinished business” from the season that wasn’t in 2020.
Tiger’s GM Chris Brooking said, “in a post-Covid environment, running a successful program becomes even more challenging. It is therefore very satisfying to be able to appoint such a group of quality coaches. We are excited to have their expertise and experience and look forward to building on the successes of 2019 and take the next step”.
