The Melbourne Tigers have beaten the Nunawading Spectres at home in an impressive team showing.
Trailing after the first quarter, the Tigers slowly worked its way back into the lead in what was a hotly contested first half.
Going into the third quarter, it still looked to be team’s game.
The trio of Izzy Wright, Rachel Antoniadou and Penina Davidson led the way for Nunawading, however Melbourne was able to take control to close the quarter, before unleashing an offensive explosion in the final term.
The Tigers outscored the Spectres 27-8 over the final 10 minutes, led by strong work on the glass and crisp passing.
Monique Conti nearly registered a triple double for Melbourne, scoring 28 points to go along with her eight rebounds and seven assists, while Zitina Aokuso tallied a strong double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds).
The win was an important one for the Tigers, as the side aims to break into the top four of the conference.
