Tylah Hooper Returns for Season 2023

The Melbourne Tigers are excited to announce Tylah Hooper is returning for season 2023.

Tylah has come through the Tigers junior ranks and has been a part of the NBL1 squad for the last two seasons. She started as a bottom age U12 and graduated all the way through to U18’s and now straddles both Youth League and NBL1. Over the years Tylah has represented Basketball Victoria at the Australian Junior Championships and spent last year in the New Zealand NBL playing for the Mainland Pouakai. Tylah adds some real scoring punch off the bench who will no doubt knock down some deep 3’s and set up her team mates with some brilliant passing.

Coach Warrick Giddey said, “The club is rapt to have Tylah back this year. She spent some time in New Zealand  and now she’s returned. Tylah has come through the Tigers program from U12s to NBL1 and it proves to other young Tigers girls that it is a legitimate pathway. I’m excited to help Tylah continue to develop as a player and I’m confident she’ll have a great season.”

Tylah said “This year I’m super excited to play with a bunch of new high-level athletes, along with a few that I’ve been playing with since juniors. I started my basketball with the Melbourne Tigers program, from bottom age Under 12s all the way through to graduating in the Under 18s. This year with a whole new group I think we will achieve many great things as a team and can’t wait for round 1 to begin. I am looking forward to a competitive NBL1 season and getting to know my teammates whilst continuing to learn and improve from Wazza, Kaleb and Grant.”

Tylah will join the rest of her team when the Tigers play their first NBL1 game against Ballarat (away) on Saturday 1st April.
