The Melbourne Tigers is excited to announce the signing of Samantha (Sammy) Simons to their 2023 Women’s NBL1 South roster.

Sammy is a proud South Australian with an impeccable pedigree (both her parents played national league). Sammy has represented her state and country as a junior and attended the Australian Centre of Excellence in her final two years of school. Then it was off to St Mary’s Gaels, a US college with a huge reputation for recruiting Australian athletes.

Coach Warrick Giddey said, “Sammy will bring real scoring punch. She is a great outside threat, and her athleticism, experience and leadership will really help our team of young athletes”.

Sammy said “I’m really excited to join a club with such great history and success. I’m looking forward to competing in the NBL1 South under the guidance of Wazza. Can’t wait to represent the Melbourne Tigers!”

The Tigers play their first NBL1 game against Ballarat (away) on Saturday 1st April.
