Tigers Re-Sign Young Guns

The Melbourne Tigers is excited to announce the re-signing three exciting prospects to their 2023 Women’s NBL1 South roster.

Lily Carmody’s tenacious defence and aggressive moves to the basket were a feature of her first season in 2022. She won a DP role at Melbourne Boomers shortly after and looks to expand her game in 2023.

Nikki Metcalfe will return once she completes her graduate year representing the Little Rock Trojans in Arkansas. A Tiger junior, Nikki will add scoring punch and size to the group.

Hannah Giddey is also returning to the Tigers, but only after she completes her season with Southern Nazarene University. She moved to the Crimson Storm in Oklahoma after a year at Oral Roberts Uni, partly to be closer to brother Josh. Hannah’s game has expanded this year and she will protect the rim and clean the glass.

Coach Warrick Giddey said, “We had a real youth policy in 2022 and were able to ‘blood’ a number of promising athletes. It is great to see these three back again, all with a year’s experience under their belt.”

The Tigers play their first NBL1 game against Ballarat (away) on Saturday 1st April.
