Taylor Ortlepp Signs with Tigers NBL1 South in 2023

The Melbourne Tigers are thrilled to announce the signing of Melbourne Boomers star Taylor Ortlepp to their 2023 Women’s NBL1 South roster.

Taylor originates from South Australia and has been a member of the Adelaide Lightning playing alongside current Tiger Sammy Simons, before moving to the Melbourne Boomers for this current WNBL season. Taylor represented Australia in the 2014 U17 World Championships before taking off to Boston College where she played all four years of her collegiate career. Taylor is also a member of the Carlton Blues AFLW team and will balance her time between scoring buckets and kicking goals over 2023.

Taylor had a very strong season in the NBL1 West league in 2022 for the Rockingham Flames. She put up a great stat line averaging 16pts @ 33% from beyond the arc, 2.2 ast and 3.6 reb and a very tenacious defender with 1.7 stl per game.

Coach Warrick Giddey said, “We are extremely excited to have Taylor join our program in 2023, she gives us more WNBL talent to go along with our young core. She will bring some AFLW toughness to our team which will be great for us and gives us a savvy defender who can shoot from outside. I’m looking forward to giving Taylor the opportunity to keep developing her sporting career both on the court and on the footy field”.

Taylor said “I’m super excited join the Melbourne Tigers for the upcoming NBL1 season and look forward to getting on court with the group. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve in the next few months.”

Taylor will suit up for the Tigers when they play their first NBL1 game against Ballarat (away) on Saturday 1st April.
